Do You Feel Guilty When You Rest?–Sheryl

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Ps. 16:11)

Maybe my timing is off, Lord? I was thinking we would be going south about a month from now. We would probably have to leave early on a Thursday for our proposed schedule. If we wait for our missionary speaker we won’t leave for another week. Help me see Your best in this.

“You don’t have to wait for him to speak. You and Noval could do lunch with him.”

But is that Your best for everyone? I want Your best. If I just insist on my way things won’t be right and I won’t enjoy the vacation. Help me to see what You see.

“Come down and sit with Me by the boat.”

I’d love to, Lord. Like the boy, Samuel, I would like to say “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” (The boat is pulled all the way up on the grass. We are going to sit in the grass and lean back on the boat.) It’s good to rest with You.

“Precious girl!” (Jesus gives me a hug.)

Thanks, Lord. I love You, too!

“The boat is beached, well up on land.”

Yes, it is.

“For a reason. You are with Me, but resting. You still often feel guilty when you rest.”

Yes, I feel unprofitable when I rest. I have long felt that way. Why?

“Yet, you know your body and mind need rest.”

My work doesn’t get done. Your work doesn’t get done. I feel I am wasting time. But I don’t always know what to do either. Why did You make us to need rest?

“It is part of being a physical creature in time. If you don’t rest you don’t hear Me well either. You squander your energy. Then you need to rest more. Come to Me. Let Me fill you and send you out on My schedule.”

There seems fewer laborers, more ground to till, more of Your kingdom to be built, darker days and less time.

“Time is in My hand. I could make the stones cry out to fulfill My purposes, remember? Time will end when all is fulfilled.”

I guess I want to be a part of things more.

“You are more a part of things than you know. Striving wastes your energy as well. As long as you are resting in Me, checking with My plans for your day, I can use you. You need to be rested and tuned into Me. I can steer you from there.”

As Noval says, the enemy is always whispering and accusing with the words, “What are you doing?”

“You are My being. I will tell you what the doing is.”
