2 Peter 1:1-8 New International Version (NIV)
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Confirming One’s Calling and Election
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because your lovingkindness is better than life, I will lift up my hands to Your name. You surround me with Your mercy.
It’s a rainy gray Monday- a great day to be thankful for a roof over one’s head. Thank You for Your faithful love. For Your provision, for the companionship of my beloved and for the comforts of my home. Teach me Your ways. Show me the path of wisdom.
I dreamed I was in the mountains, on a steep dirt road, like maybe in W. Va. I was carrying a toddler, a little girl. I was making my way down the mountain when I looked up and saw a huge boulder up above us, beginning to slide off the top of the mountain. As it moved over top of us, it transformed into a huge plane, like a military transport plane. The scene shifted, and the girl and I were inside the plane, toward the rear but looking out of an opening in the nose as it dove toward the ground.
We landed and the little girl exited before me and headed into a terminal or hangar. She sat on some sort of bench or stool. A Hispanic-looking guy who appeared to be some sort of technician or mechanic backed away from his work and sat on the little girl. I fussed at him and he got up off of her, but he seemed to be irritated. That was it.

Lord, would You unpack the dream from yesterday?
The little girl is all that’s good and holy and innocent. Purity of heart, childlike wonder at life. Love. Generosity. Peace. Kindness. My original image stamped in humanity.
You carried her. She now seems very separate from you because of the scars and wounds and corruption of sin. But she’s still part of you and of all people- she needs to be rescued, nurtured, liberated, set free.
The giant boulder is the mystery of the gospel. It looked like impending doom and death, but for all who embrace the Cross, there is a kind of death, but it ultimately becomes the source of your rescue. Hence the boulder’s transformation into the plane that ultimately brought you down off the mountain to safety. Those who embrace the Cross have my image in them rescued and restored.
The guy who sat on the little girl is the flesh. Even though she -and you- have been rescued, there are still forces that seek to repress her, hinder her, impede her growth and progress: old habits, ways of thinking, the corrupting influences of a fallen broken culture.
You rebuked him and he moved. He groused, but he moved. The old flesh-life will lose its grip the more you confront and resist it, but it will put up resistance and talk back.
Notice that you, yourself were involved in the rescue. While My salvation is a free gift of My grace, you have a role to play in accessing its benefits. You choose to keep short accounts with Me, confessing sin when I point it out. You choose to come humbly and with an open spirit to the Lord’s table, celebrating my atonement. You choose to fellowship with My people, to feed and meditate on My word, to cry out to Me for holiness and wisdom and understanding and deliverance from the world, the flesh and the devil. I provide the means of grace, but like Peter said [see the text above] you have to “make every effort” to lay hold of them.
The more you cooperate with Me by doing these things, the more My image (the innocent child) is restored in you.
Noval’s note: the Lord communicated nothing to me about the apparent ethnicity of the guy who represented the flesh, so I assume it was totally irrelevant to what He was seeking to communicate. He could have been of any race or ethnicity.
